Ra’ad Rehabilitation Goodwill Complex was established under the laws of Islamic Republic of Iran in 1984 (Reg. No.2811). RRGC is a private charity institution, dedicated solely to promote the cause of the physically disabled community.

The institution started its activities with five applicants in a temporarily donated premise of two small rooms at a charity medical clinic, located in a low income suburb, south of Tehran. RRGC now operates from its own building, a nearly 4,000  m2 (in excess of 40,000 sq.ft.) facility, constructed on a parcel of land measuring 2,800 sq m. to which RRGC holds the title deed.

As an educational, philanthropic and charitable institution, Ra'ad offers three broad areas of services including:

  • Rehabilitation (physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, orthopedic and daily mental health care)
  • Vocational training (computer programming and operation, hardware assembly, typing, civil and industrial drafting, accounting, home appliance repairs, sewing, sculpture, flower making and pottery)
  • And a variety of auxiliary or support services including honorary loans, financial grants, in-house and referral medical services by volunteer physicians, transportation to and from a downtown station, library facilities, counseling services, social work assistance, home visits and marriage counseling.

RRGC services are offered free of charge to all qualified applicants. The institution is funded exclusively by popular donations and generous private financial support. In offering its services RRGC does not discriminate on the basis of the applicant's race, creed, religious affiliation, sex, color, national or ethnic origin.

A Board of Trustees' consisting of 19 prominent private Individuals from all walks of life, provides the management with policy guidelines. Management consists of a seven member Board of Directors (selected amongst the Board of Trustees') a managing director and a limited number of staff (presently numbering 15). Policy decisions are all made within the framework of Ra'ad's Charter. RRGC also benefits from the invaluable voluntary services of a pool of volunteers of more than 500 individuals who are organized in two groups, The Ra'ad Charitable Ladies Association (founded in 1994) and The Ra'ad Youth Benevolent Association (founded in 1996). These voluntary groups, jointly and independently, as circumstances warrant, are instrumental in several areas including, inter alia, fundraising, public relations, administrative and teaching assistance, celebrating special events and conducting flea markets, bazaars, concerts, lectures and other social activities.

A growing number of local citizens have recently joined the RRGC campaign to enhance public participation by becoming honorary members of Ra'ad family. The members undertake to pay a minimal monthly membership fee.
