Cultural-athletic Congress on the Disabled People’s Day at Raad Organization

One-day-long cultural-athletic congress was held on Azar 3rd (November, 24th), the disabled people’s international day, with the presence of the disabled people (Tavan Yab), their families, benefactor citizens and the officials of the area 2 municipality at Raad organization.
Reportedly by Raad organization’s Public Relations, the disabled people competed in Dart, Mini Gulf, Boccia and Archery, and the winners received the prize.
The other activities included: the exhibition of the disabled people’s abilities by supportive clubs.
Spinal Cord Injury Association of Tehran Province, Protection Center of Spinal Cord Disables of Iran, Iranian Muscular Dystrophy Association, Khorshid Association, Sepas Association, The Sightless Association, Payam-e-Omid Association, Taleghan’s Raad Center, Karaj’s Raad Center, East of Tehran’s Raad Center and Qom’s Fatemiyeh Raad Center, showed their activities to the visitors.
The Disabled People’s Day ceremony started by reading Quran, and after listening to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national anthem, Sedigheh Akbari, managing director of Raad organization congratulated this day and noted that Raad has focused on enabling the disabled people through its three decades of activities, and its serious pursuit of the purposes was resulted in establishment of the first exclusive university for the disabled people which has started its activities since the beginning of the year.
The managing director of the Raad thanked the cooperation of the other associations and the support of the civil managers and officials and demanded the municipality to support the disabled people more.
Then, Ali Shams, the head of the secretariat of policy making council of the Tehran Safe Community emphasized that the council plans to prevent the disabilities caused by the accidents and events by making the city safer.
Ahmad Mirzakhani, head of the Raad’s board of directors, reported Raad’s activities since November 2010 to November 2011 that shows 250 students study at the Raad’s Elmi Karbordi Center at the beginning of the second semester of it.
Seyed Hassan Zahedi, the physical education responsible of area 2 municipality, suggested: we will allocate the suitable athletic equipments to the disabled people through the area in near future.
“It’s an honor for municipality’s physical education to see the disabled people (Tavan Yab) attend in national and global arenas and at the Olympic as athletes and champions.
At the end of the ceremony, Shahram Mobser, responsible of the cultural unit of Raad organization and the secretary of the congress said: we have started to take photos of unsuitable points of the area followed by the mayor of area 2’s order to fit the area based on the disabled people’s needs and now we have given 3000 photos to municipality to do so.
