Ms.Sedigheh AKBARI, General Manager of RAAD Charity Complex: Disability Is Just a Moment Away From Healthiness
Thanks to the efforts of “MADAD pharmaceutical and medical relief charity”, International day of people with disability was held last night at the Museum of Imam Ali (Shias leader) in the presence of officials, associations, and institutions active in the field of disability.
At the beginning of the ceremony Mr.Alireza Gha’hari, General Manager of MADAD Charity Complex, by congratulating the upcoming day of International day of people with disability said: achieving well-harmonic infrastructure community service would not approachable without perfect collaboration within all relevant organizations; in this path, the capacity of responsible executives should be used in a proper manner, according to the Ra’ad Charity Complex public relations report. He added: today vulnerable groups have limited social presence which is a disability sign of our city.
Managing Director of the Madad Institute by inviting Ms.Sedigheh Akbari.to the speech tribune, said: the RAAD Complex has been awarded the first rank between institutions that were active in the field of disability from biennial disability festival, last year.
Ms.Sedigheh Akbari at the beginning mentioned to the range of difficulties that RAAD Complex faced when it to provide service and accessibility for the target audience. We do have pity on expressing that RAAD Complex yet is one of a few building that has met the standards in terms of accessibility and services for the people with disability.
She added, one of the reasons that people with disability can use vocational rehabilitation services and facilities is just access to the different parts and well-harmonic infrastructure of the RAAD building. Have we ever asked ourselves that why our resources in this area are so limited? This would feel worse if we consider ourselves in the community with rapid progressing like Tehran which is a metropolitan. Why our disable people still left ignored?
She also praised the recent measures of Tehran municipality and said: Establishing disable associations in whole of the 22 districts was the link between municipal and people with disability, associations and people-based communications who took significant steps on Institutionalized the Rights of Disabled People.
He called for the development of transportation services to meet the expectation of disabled people and added, accessibility to public transport services could resolve the most transportation issues that people with disability are facing nowadays.
Afterward Mohammad Mousavi founder of the Qazvin Talented Disability Association pointed out that the authorities are not suitable to consider favorable the act of grace they are implementing to meet disable communities expectations. He continued: We believe "Our town is beautiful when the entire turnout" well-harmonic reformation is necessary for whole of the communities since today's youth are tomorrow's elderly.
Urban-life barriers have constraints to the condition of people with disability, he added. We have to strive to develop their social presence which is one of the ways to reduce their limitations. In this path improving urban architecture is just one of the Disability Rights and put more effort for realization of other rights, such as their cultural, artistic, educational, etc.
Mr.Mahmoud KARY general manager of Iranian Handicapped Neda Association also delivered speech during this ceremony by recalling urban development in the recent years added: we have involved with disable people from 1357 and are the second active association based on historical precedence.
He emphasized celebrating the efforts of all who are working to empower people with disability and social presence. Activist organizations in the disable people affairs are welcome to any support or cooperation receiving from either people or governmental organizations. All is for preparing effective presence of people with disability into the society.
Mr.Bijan ALIABADI and Dr. Daryoush ZAMANI respectively, appeared in the dock and assert the rights of people with disabilities.
As part of this ceremony, a short film that was produced by the NGOs and the extent of urban infrastructure progressive steps was broadcasted.
