UN Enable Photograph Exhibition

The UN Enable Photograph Exhibition (UNEPE) works towards the full integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of the lives of their communities – political, social, economic and cultural, and on an equal basis with others.

The photographs selected aim to raise awareness about disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) that was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2006, followed decades of work by the United Nations to ensure the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society and development.

In light of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention, this year the UNEPE will highlight the positive ways in which the Convention has impacted the lives of people around the world.

Photo exhibition at united nation on international day of persons with disabilities was held in 2015 and  150 photos from all over the world attend  ,  10 photos  selected as most incredible ones which 2 of them by Iranian Artists .

The theme for the 2016 UNEPE is “The CRPD and you“.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF PHOTOGRAPHS: 31 October 2016.

Guidelines for submitting photographs:

• Submissions for the photograph exhibit are open to all, including professional photographers, except staff of the UN Secretariat and their families.
• Photographs must be new and not have been used or published elsewhere.
• There is no entry fee.
• Steps:
  1. Complete the Copyright Release Form (including an electronic signature and acceptance of the legal conditions).
• 
  2. Email your photographs & the Copyright Release Form to enable@un.org with the subject “Submission the UN Enable Photograph Exhibit 2016”.
• Entries will be received until 31 October 2016.

Format:

• All photographs should be in a jpeg format.
• File size: Minimum size is 1500 x 2100 pixels; more than 150dpi; up to 5 MB.
• Image data files could be created with digital smartphones and still cameras, including medium and large-format cameras.
• Digital manipulation may be permitted; however, images should accurately represent the subject matter and persons with disabilities. Images that appear to be overly processed may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
• Both colour and monochrome images will be accepted.
• Scans of photographs taken by film cameras are not eligible.

Final selection:

• The final selection of the photographs will be conducted at UN Headquarters in New York by senior officers of the Department of Public Information and the Department of Economics and Social Affairs.
• Images selected will form part of a display exhibited at UN Headquarters in New York during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December 2015 and on the UN website.
• All submissions will be placed in a bank of images which may be used by for outreach efforts and UN publications.

Please note:

• The United Nations reserves the right to use, name and publish any entry at their discretion, without any compensation to the photographer; however, the copyright will remain with the photographer.
• Credit and notification will be given to the photographer when possible.
• The United Nations reserves the right to grant permission for reprint of the photograph to third parties.
• Submitters must own all rights to the works submitted and any model or photographed object releases are the submitter’s responsibility. If there are any discrepancies as to the correct ownership of the photo, the United Nations reserves the right to eliminate the photo from the exhibit.
• Entries must include a signed release from any person(s) appearing in the photograph or their guardians.
• Individuals who submit photographs are responsible for any claims arising out of the UN’s use of the photographs, and the UN shall not be responsible for any such claims.
